This LA girl has an unhealthy obsession with Winter Coats. I can’t help it, they’re the epitome of chic. Plus, I like to feel the change in seasons when its cooler and you have to bundle up. The holidays are just not as fun in 75-80 degree weather, ya feel me? For the time being, I may only be able to wear a tee underneath but I’ll take what I can get!

the most important thing to look for when shopping for winter coats

Before I share my favorite coats of the season (don’t peek!), I want to share with you something really important when you’re shopping for winter clothing: fabric. If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know that I’m all about mixing high and low items. For the most part, I invest in accessories (bags + shoes) more so than clothing. But when it comes to winter clothing, the fabric is super important. In plain words, polyester isn’t gonna keep you warm. Investing in wool and cashmere pieces is expensive but will pay off in the end. The best part is that most coats are designed in classic silhouettes so you will be able to wear them for many seasons. EXCEPTION: I’ve found that some faux fur, shearling and teddy coats also keep you warm. These may also be you’re only choice if you’re allergic to wool. And I know that especially right now, a lot of people prefer these types of coats because they are festive. What you wear underneath matters too. TIP: To ensure that you stay warm, make sure that you layer with cashmere or wool blend sweaters or turtlenecks. I also LOVE the heat tech layering pieces from UNIQLO, they are a game changer (which again are perfect if you have a wool allergy). Make sure to check out their collab with Alexander Wang too! Ok enougth about that, you get the point. Let’s see the goods now…

TIP: Shop for winter clothing at the end of the season to get the best deals. You can favorite items you want to buy later on most websites. Just know that they might not be available.

As always, thanks for stopping by! Stay warm! xxSarah
